A note from Amy!

howdy! you were right, i felt much better after i wrote the email, i had one of the girls (Emanuella) re-braid my hair! it made me feel much better! she is going to do something else to it tomorrow, she's 14 and has english of a 2nd grader so it's been a lot of fun.:) Sherri (the misssionary that lives here) has asked some of us to work with Emanuella, Mark, and Exolina seperately with their english. they just came here last year and so they are far behind the other children with their english-but they do fine with french and creole. TRY LEARNING 3 LANGUAGES!!! lol plus i add in some spanish and the kids love it!! hahah yesterday i was in the classroom all morning (school only goes till 12) and was teaching simple math (multiplication) to 2nd (i think) grade! i taught them the 9's trick and "anything times 10 add a 0 to the end!"
yesterday everyone was crazy busy working on the fixing of the septic tank (not i!) i worked with emanuella for about an hour on english... try teaching the TH sound and an R to someone who has never made those noises!! ahah it's like them trying to teach us pw...sounds funny! anyway, our electricity is out and i'm working on battery and im the first one so i really gotta get going. glad to hear you got another fox! what about that woodchuck?!! :) i miss you and love you but i am also having tons of fun with the kids. yesterday it rained (down poured) during the day, which is ab-normal, so i was dancing and playing in the rain with the kids, we sat under the lean-to and they started singing songs!! toooo cute :)
today i taught a little, worked with emanuella and then taught the boys how to play wiffle ball in about a 10ft wide space, you REALLY need to see the pictures! :) they had so much fun.
it made me miss my girls though, glad they got the games cancelled so i didnt miss it but kinda a bummer they didnt get to play. BRRR that's cold!!
i feel like im rambling, please save these emails because i haven't had much time to journal so this is kinda it!
mike and amanda-everyone here is praying for health for your baby! the kids are excited you are pregnant
scott and cindy- "woa that's a lot of kids" (even though they come from familys of 7-10! :)
david- (sorry) they laughed becuase i have a picture with you laughing and your tounge is sticking out
i REALLY gotta go- i'll write again.
its crazy hot here, sweaty all day, rain almost everynight, dogs bark ALL night long, roosters crow and im up @ 5am everyday with no alarm...crazy huh? the rooftop view doing devotions listening to my cd player watching the sunrise GREAT way to start every morning!
love you all very much, we are half way done! tomorrow we wake up with only 3 days left here, leave sat am! :(

goodnight, bon nuit (said bon new ee) :)

A note from Amy!

From dad to Amy
That's funny! Travel a gazillion miles to clean out a closet/room which you have experience and a talent for!!! I looked in the Old Testament, the 6 th book which is Joshua, the 10 chapter, but there isn't 54 verses. Then I looked in the New Testament-Romans 10, but there isn't 54 vs there either. So...no big significant meaning with your Mom's birthday-but it is Mothers Day today so maybe that was a reminder??? See..day3 is done already and your into day 4-take time to look around, take a step back, take a breath, God is good!!

Reply to dads e-mail

happy sunday! :) cheerios for breakfast (with sugar :) ) HA HA! dont know if i mentioned this yet- i get up at 5am with no alarm...which would be ur 6am... kinda wierd?! sunrise is beautiful with these mountains! we go to church today at 9-your 10, i guess we are going to try and fit as many kids in as we can! kids are starting to bond a little and they are calling for me! :) ahh meee ahhh meee haha God is good... my braids are starting to come out a little, my stuff got SOAKED from the huge rain storm last night-but oh well it will dry :) be on here prolly tonight

Hello from haiti!

hello! i can't wait to show you the pictures!! everyone has been taking pictures, we split up all over the place today... there's a room thats the "storage" room aka catch all and guess where i was alllll day?!!! haha laurel, pam, and i basically re-organized the room, we aren't done yet.... there are tons and tons of books!! we didnt even start to organize them yet. the kids are soo cute they are running around here teasing me calling me "jessica" they think i look like some girl that was here before...asked me if i knew her! lol
today was much better emotionally but i kinda was locked in a small room organizing so i didnt see all the bad stuff. we found a bunch of soccer balls and toys and bunches of other stuff that was in the room so today they played soccer with a FULL soccer ball! :) so little things are happening!

they have devotions every night and it's so cute... all these kids singing jesus loves me and hallelujah! they have such high spirits, one kid today (can't remember all 35 kids in one day!) was looking at my tattoo and said that's in the bible?! bc he thought the date was a bible verse! i could go on and on but it's a lot better today than yesterday, we started with breakfast (scrambled eggs, toast, mangos, and SPAM! mmm lunch was turkey or tuna sandwich, i bet you can guess my choice! dinner we had spaghetti! they are trying to cook us "american" food so we dont get sick....so far so good!

my time is up on the computer, hopefully sometime soon be back on!
GOD IS SOOO GOOD!! :)anything specific you want to ask? anything specific you want to tell me about?! life's good? work??

Love you!!!!!

A note from Amy!

hey there! day # 1 is done, and you have no idea how fast that went!!! it's all kind of a blurr- this place is a mess the garbage/trash everywhere is really gross. Sherri took us on a walk through "town" and i took A LOT of pictures!! whats so cool is that no matter how gross i think it is, these people are happy and smiling saying hi, offering us their food, it's crazy! they have nothing and what they do have the are offering. It's amazing what Sherri is doing here, these kids are adorable! Ahhhmee is my name and they want to know if my friend who braided my hair was haitian! lol... on monday i will be helping teach the 4th grade "late bloomers" who are slow in english..wish me luck! my head light isnt working, the camera had some issues but i think thats fixed... can't find my toothbrush- shouldve washed my black tees cuz now i have black fuzzies all over!! haha im hot, sweaty, sticky, smellin like big spray and about to have my first night under a mosquito net! pray that i sleep good...this place has made me cry 3 times already today! and immmmmm tiiiiireeeeeddddd!!!

The kids were playing soccer today with a flat soccer ball- sad but they were having a blast! talk about make the most of what you're given!
